Energy Mad launches LED bulbs in Australia

Energy Mad now has a specialised sales teams to target Australian consumers with its Ecobulb.

The Christchurch company said today that it had partnered Australasian sales force heavyweight Salmat to launch its LED bulbs in Australia.

Energy Mad's share price has been volatile in the past couple of years but has recently recovered from its lows to last trade at 26 cents to give the company a capitalisation of $11.2 million.

The NZX-listed company is aiming for profitability this year after losses in the past three years.

Salmat managed more than 6 billion customer interactions each year for some of the largest brands in Australia and New Zealand, Energy Mad said.

The project involves Salmat's sales forces demonstrating Energy Mad's light bulbs to consumers and providing a personalised energy-savings forecast from replacing their old light bulbs with Ecobulb LEDs.

"The Australian market is an ideal opportunity for Energy Mad, with low uptake of LEDs, increasing energy costs and little competition in the direct sales space," Energy Mad managing director Chris Mardon said.

Salmat Field executive general manager Jason Webster said there was great potential for the LED product.

"As electricity costs in Australia continue to rise, both consumers and businesses are looking for ways to cut down on their energy usage," he said.
