EcoSmartHome has
been designed and implemented by Energy Mad Limited, a Christchurch
based energy efficiency company, and is supported by MainPower.
subsidies are provided by the
Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority's (EECA) ENERGYWISE™
programme.

-
Energy Mad was established by its
two directors, Dr Chris Mardon and Tom Mackenzie, to undertake
Ecobulb® Promotions.
-
Their aim is 5 Ecobulbs™ in each of
55% of the homes in New Zealand. This will save every home $500,
and save enough electricity to power Hamilton.

-
MainPower owns and operates the electricity distribution system
throughout the North Canterbury, Kaiapoi and Kaikoura regions
and supplies line services to approximately 29,000 customers
MainPower is not an electricity retailer like Contact or
Meridian, but rather manages the powerlines
-
MainPower is owned by the MainPower Trust on behalf of the
community
-
MainPower profits are returned to the community through a rebate
on power bills
-
In addition to improving the health and wellbeing of the local
community MainPower is promoting this project to avoid further
costs in increasing the capacity of transmission lines
-
The MainPower rebate will not be affected by this project
