Project Rationale

The EcoSmartHome project is about delivering real benefits to the environment, the local community and the consumer. All through achieving higher levels of energy efficiency.

Waipa Networks Trust has sought to deliver this project to the community specifically to achieve the following:

• Deliver real benefits to Waipa consumers through lower power bills, and warmer and healthier homes

• Reduce peak load on the power transmission system by 0.7MW, deferring $700,000 worth of unsightly new electricity transmission capital investment

• Reducing carbon emissions by 15,000 tonnes over ten years. This is the equivalent of taking 3,500 cars off the road for one year
