Energy Mad Vision

Energy Mad's FoundersEnergy Mad was initially founded in 2004 with the aim of getting five energy saving Ecobulb® lamps into 50% of the homes in New Zealand and to "save all the electricity used by Christchurch homes!".

This was based on the fact that an Ecobulb® can save the average consumer about $200 on their powerbills over the lifetime of the bulb.

Founders Chris Mardon and Tom Mackenzie could see that it wouldn't take too many Ecobulbs® before the savings ran into the millions and then the billions!

By late 2007, Energy Mad's goal of saving all the electricity used by Christchurch was already achieved!

Consequently, Energy Mad now aims to "make lives better by saving enough electricity to power New Zealand". This will be achieved through our Ecobulb® projects, and also through new energy efficiency initiatives.

This aim is the next step towards Energy Mad's real stretch goal:

We plan to replace every one of the world's 29 billion halogen and incandescent bulbs with Ecobulbs®!
